Offline RPGs that don't need a flagship phone
People assume good mobile RPGs demand top-end hardware. That is mostly a myth. Some of the best turn-based games I have played run fine on a five-year-old phone because they lean on smart design instead of heavy graphics.
Emberfall Saga is my favourite example. It is a full campaign with a real skill tree, and it never asks for a connection. Turn-based combat is friendly to older devices because nothing has to render in real time.
When you are hunting for offline RPGs, check two things: does the game save locally, and does it still work in airplane mode. A surprising number of 'offline' games secretly phone home for menus or ads.
My advice is to keep one long RPG installed for trips and a couple of shorter games for quick breaks. Battery matters too, so I favour turn-based over flashy action games when I know I will be away from a charger.
