About
Pocket Offline started as a shared notes file between three friends who kept losing signal on trains and wanted something better than a blank screen. We only cover games that fully work without internet, because that is the whole point of the site.
Every game gets installed on a real phone and played for at least a few hours before we write a word. We look at how the controls feel on a small screen, whether the game respects your time, and how it behaves in airplane mode. If something needs a login just to open the menu, it does not make the cut.
We do not take payment for reviews and we do not run pre-written promotional copy. When we like something, we say why. When a game is a grind or full of nagging pop-ups, we say that too.
The catalogue grows slowly on purpose. We would rather write six careful reviews than fifty rushed ones.
Miklós Varga — Miklós has been reviewing mobile games since the early Android days and still keeps a drawer of old phones for testing. He handles most of the RPG and simulation write-ups.
